Fantasy Football

Fantasy Football is a game where you sign up into a league of a group of your friends or other users on the web. The users once in a league have a draft, like in the NFL where all the players are up for grabs and people are assigned number 1-12. When selecting players you are able to pick a quarterback, wide receiver, tight end, running back, kicker, and defense. You are allowed to start one quarterback, three wide receivers, one tight end, two running backs, one kicker, and one defense every week where you challenge another users selected squad. Fantasy Football is all about strategy and a little bit of luck. You could have the best team, with all the top names, but if your player  is hurt in real life, then you must select another player to replace the slot or else you will receive a score of 0.00 for that week in that position. People love this simple game that bases the users points based on the performance of the player. This has many fans interested in watching multiple games at a game time because it is very unlikely that a person will choose all their players from one team. Fantasy Football adds more hype to the Sunday and Monday Night Football games because it seems that now a days every avid football fan has a fantasy football account on sites like “YAHOO!” “NFL.COM” and other sites, the game is very fun and addictive.

OCCUPY

Occupy has become a fast blooming movement of peaceful political protest that spans from America to Canada. The movement has not established itself as against one certain thing; occupiers are angry with the way that the government has in their opinion wasted money on wars and misappropriated the federal reserve and tax payers dollars to bail out major corporations and banks. The Occupiers set up camp in front of places such as: Wall Street Major Public Parks and in Los Angeles at places like the front lawn of city hall and in front of the court houses. There have been few occasions of violence breaking out at these protests, for example in Oakland, and in New York where Police Officers dressed in full-riot gear attacked protestors with canisters of tear gas, mace, rubber bullets, night sticks and other non lethal dehabilitants. The officers displayed excessive force in engaging the protestors in every situation they have encountered with eachother. The Occupiers are expressing their ammendment to freedom of speech, as well as politically protesting in a publicily owned place; which is funded by taxes that the people pay and they want to have a say on where their money is spent.

Yay For Avengers

I usually don’t like watching movies that are made from comic books but I must admit that I like the Iron Man and Hulk movies so when I heard that they are making an Avengers movie I had to go check out the trailer for myself. The trailer makes it look like they are basing the whole movie around Iron Man which seems to be the most famous superhero out of the whole Avengers collaboration, they have switched out Eric Bana as well as Eric Norton and put a new face, making this the third Hulk in its third appearance on screen. While Thor, Iron Man, and Captain America are the same actors it will be interesting to see how they allocate time for five different superstars on the same set playing hero. The trailer was very action packed and did not leave any room for me to catch my breath, hopefully the movie is as good as the trailer, on a side note I did a little more digging and I found out that Acura which is the sponsor for the “S.H.E.I.L.D.” in these movies is unveiling a new sports car that Iron Man will be driving around, it seems like it will be the successor of the old Acura NSX which stopped production about 2005.

Fantasy Football

So I joined a Fantasy Football League this year which is a group of my brothers closest friends, and I had a record of 3-0 for the first three weeks of the regular season and was smashing on all of my opponents winning by at least 20 points or more, but as of late I have become a depressing 3-2 :( not cool… My players always seem to get hurt, and the players that are available to pick up are garbage. I recently learned that players who get big contracts in sports like the NFL get fat paychecks but do not get to see the numbers that we hear about on television unless they are actually performing at a certain level, and present at the games. I have about three injured players, Andre Johnson from the Houston Texans, Miles Austin of the Dallas Cowboys, and Aaron Hernandez from the New England Patriots. I know I’m hurting on putting up points on the scoreboard for my fantasy league but in reality, these players are missing out on millions of dollars every game they sit out. The players put their bodies and lives out on the line to entertain people, but the people who are being entertained do not understand the stress on the players to perform at a certain level each and every game. I think I have become more understanding towards athletes who are injured and try to take it easy and make sure that they have fully recovered before competing again.

NBA Lockout

Ok, so NBA commissioner David Stern has been meeting with the leagues players representatives that consist of a battery of lawyers and Los Angeles Laker Derek Fisher. Derek Fisher being one of the leagues oldest active players has decided to act as something like a rep. for the players. During the short offseason of the NBA the players have been disputing with league as well as the club owners about their pay, just as the NFL players did. It looked very doubtful that there would even be a NFL season this year, but players and their representatives were able to work out a deal that both sides could agree to. As of October the talks with the commissioner seems to have gone nowhere, each side has just presented their argument and  not reached any solutions. Stern has suspended the first two weeks of the regular season which will last until about November 11th, and no further talks have been scheduled for now. Many superstars and players of each team will miss out on alot of money due to the lockout and suspension of the first two weeks of the regular season. It is estimated that players like Kobe Bryant will lose a whopping 2 million dollars, Lebron James, will lose out on 1.8 million dollars due to the lockout, as we might think that those players will not be missing that money since it is chump change to their net worth, but the real important thing everyone loses out on is watching good basketball :( .

Celeberity Imposter

In Washington D.C. a man by the name of Stephan Pittman, was arrested by authorities for impersonating the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Vince Young, who is currently healing from a hamstring injury he suffered during pre-season. Pittman was running around D.C. impersonating Young and accepting donations for Young’s foundation the The Vince Young Foundation. The imposter has even supposedly taken pictures with children who are sick while accepting these donations. This is a very sick crime, this man is an imposter and a criminal, he deceived giving people as well as sick children, in order to add a few dollars  to his name.

Football Is Back

Thank God football is back is season, finally the commissioner and the teams of the NFL got their acts together and finished a deal with the players. The owners of these NFL teams rake in billions every from ticket sales, and sponsorships from being on television, but they were very reluctant to increase the salary of the players during this years off season. It almost looked like we weren’t going to see any football, but when football season got nearer and nearer the commissioner, the teams, as well as the players, sat down during a meeting and it seems that all sides were satisfied enough to start up the 2011 season in time. Although training camp was only a mere two weeks we are now in the beginning of the season and the players are playing their hearts out. Aside from the fact that many players like Michael Vick, Aaron Hernandez, Miles Austin, and other superstars have suffered some early injuries all football fans are optimistic and look forward to a great season of football!
